About this course
Gain essential business skills for the fashion industry with a focus on the latest digital knowledge and techniques. This fashion marketing and management degree is taught by academics with current professional experience. It will prepare you for a range of fashion business roles, including marketing, communications, buying, merchandising, PR, brand management and digital marketing. Our graduates work for major brands, and earn places on competitive graduate training schemes.

Course structure
This programme has been developed in consultation with industry to ensure you’re prepared for a range of fashion business careers.
The core modules give you specialist knowledge and the ability to apply theoretical understanding to real-life situations. You’ll also have a choice of modules in year 2, allowing you to follow your own career interests.
Year 1 overview
You’ll study 5 modules that introduce you to key ideas and skills in fashion marketing, including:
- Introduction to Research - critical thinking, communication and study skills
- Fashion Contexts - how eras and events, contemporary influencers and the media have impacted the current fashion landscape
- Introduction to Business - the concepts and principles of the fashion business
- Fashion Styling and Creative Practice
- Consumer Intelligence - behaviour and trends
Year 2 overview
You’ll take 4 core modules to advance your existing skills and knowledge. Topics include:
- Product Management
- Trend Forecasting
- Creative Strategy - the fusion of strategy and creativity in fashion
- Retail Futures- fashion retailing and future developments in the changing retail landscape
You’ll choose another module from a broad range of topic options:
- Business Skills for the Creative Industries
- Creative Futures - exploring democratic forms of innovation, including collaborative and environmental practices, activism, social innovation and economic sustainability
- Creative Writing
- Image and Branding - issues, terminology and trends in branding
- Visual Culture - the role of images in the construction of identity, and the ways in which we understand the world around us
You can also choose to spend a semester at a partner university in Europe, Canada or Hong Kong to explore fashion from a global perspective.
Year 3 overview
You’ll consolidate your experience by producing a final marketing project. This is a body of work that illustrates the knowledge and skills you’ve learned, and aligns to your career ambitions. This will be a valuable addition to your professional portfolio.
Your final modules will equip you with the knowledge needed to work in the fashion business, specifically:
- Critical Issues - understanding the factors that determine a business’s success or failure
- Professional Planning - how to enter the workplace
- Digital Marketing - gain the latest knowledge and skills in preparation for industry
After completing your digital marketing module, you can choose to further enhance your CV by taking the 3-hour exam needed to earn the IDM’s Professional Certificate in Digital Marketing.

London is just over an hour away by train, which opens up a wealth of internship opportunities. Students have interned across many different brands, including Tom Ford, Kalmar, Mango, Joseph, River Island, Burberry, Next, Topshop, Net-A-Porter, LK Bennett, Grazia Magazine and Surgery PR.
Our in-house Studio 3015 provides paid design and marketing internships for our graduates.
You can choose to take a year in employment to work in industry between your second and third years of study. It allows you to contextualise your academic studies and build industry networks. Students have worked at different brands including House of Fraser, French Connection and John Lewis. They have worked across a variety of roles including buying and merchandising.

Tuition fees
Fees for a year's study:
- UK students pay £9,250.
- EU and international students pay £23,400.

We'll aim to process your application within 2 to 6 weeks, but this will depend on when it is submitted. Applications submitted in January, particularly near to the UCAS equal consideration deadline, might take substantially longer to be processed due to the high volume received at that time.
