Southampton University Corporate Civil Engineering Springboard Scheme (SUCCESS)
SUCCESS connects students with employers through summer internships, with the intention of creating a longer-term relationship and improving employability prospects.
The scheme is available for current BEng and MEng Civil Engineering students who are not in their final year.
The scheme offers:
- a salaried summer internship
- a potential bursary or increased salary in return for further commitment
- connection with relevant industry employers and mentors
The intention of the scheme is to help you build a long-term relationship with the employer, which could lead to further job opportunities. Offers and requirements vary, so check adverts and discuss with employers during the application stage for specific details.
More information about the scheme will become available on the Civil Engineering Hub Blackboard page for current students in Semester 1.
How to apply
To apply for a SUCCESS internship, complete the application form that will be available on the MyCareer jobs board in October/November.
Employers will shortlist applications and invite successful students to an interview, with successful candidates being contacted after the interview by the employer.
What you’ll do
Expectations will vary between employers, but generally you will be expected to:
- work for the employer during summer vacations (typically 8-10 weeks) whilst studying
- maintain a suitable grade average (typically >60%) in line with employer expectations
- consider further opportunities from your selected employer
