Southampton Common
Just a few minutes' walk from Avenue Campus, this is the largest green space in Southampton. You’ll find lakes, cycling trails and plenty of space to relax with friends.

Archaeology building and bones laboratory
Avenue Campus is the home of archaeology at Southampton. Our facilities are some of the best in the country and our purpose-built laboratory allows us to study and catalogue bones collected on field exercises.

Digital humanities facilities
Our digital humanities hub includes modern technology such as virtual reality, 3D scanning and printing, and a 360-degree fully immersive audio-visual centre. In addition, the space includes several areas for individual and group work.

Tennis, netball and basketball courts
Open to all staff and students, these courts are generally available on a first-come, first-play basis.

Avenue Common Room
This space is great for both studying and socialising. You'll find plenty of desk space and tables for group work and projects.

You’ll find a selection of quiet rooms and study spaces around Avenue Campus that provide a place for you to concentrate on your work.
There are no arts and entertainment facilities on the Avenue Campus site. Our main Highfield Campus, with its cinema and concert hall, is just a 5-minute walk away.
How to get to Avenue Campus
Campus location
Avenue Campus is located in the north-east of the city, close to Southampton Common and The Avenue (A33).
Public transport
Unilink buses stop directly outside the campus.
- St Denys Station is 1.2 miles away. It's a 25-minute walk from campus.
- Southampton Central Station is 2 miles away. It's a 20-minute bus ride or a 45-minute walk from campus.
- Southampton Airport is 3.5 miles away. It's a 30-minute bus ride or a 65-minute walk from campus.
Walking distance
Our main campus at Highfield is 0.5 miles away. It will take most people about 10 minutes to walk this distance, and the route is accessible to wheelchair users.
Parking
Parking is available for blue badge holders on all our campuses. Other visitor parking is limited and you must arrange this in advance with your host. We offer more information about parking on, or close to, campus.
