This includes process development, integration, and fabrication for a broad range of applications. We also have unique testing and characterisation capabilities.
Our commercial services
- Nanofabrication services: we fabricate and test a broad range of devices, using industry-compatible processes
- Silicon photonics (CORNERSTONE): open source multi-project-wafer and bespoke silicon photonics rapid prototyping foundry services.
- Bespoke NEMS/MEMS fabrication services: fabrication of custom silicon-on-insulator nano-electromechanical (NEMS) and micro-electromechanical (MEMS) devices. Based on a streamlined and dicing-free process technology.
- Silica optical fibre: four fibre-drawing towers capable of realising a broad range of fibre types.
- Integrated photonics: planar processing of raw and bespoke materials not usually found in silicon processing facilities. Used to produce sensing, communications and lab-on-a-chip devices.
Cleanrooms access
The Zepler Cleanrooms are accessible to external stakeholders through the following mechanisms:
- Commercial access agreement: this provides direct access to the facilities and is suitable for long-term projects. It is useful where partners prefer their own staff to carry out fabrication and characterisation work
- Collaborative grant funding: the relevant facilities and tools are accessed through an allocated grant
- Bilateral project activity: the industrial or research partner funds the tools and facilities directly.
