Swimming lessons for children

Boost your child's confidence in the water by enrolling them in our Jubilee Swimming Academy. The academy offers a wide range of children's swimming lessons, from 4 to 16 years old. These include group sessions, crash courses and individual programmes.

Our swimming lessons for children cater for all abilities, from non-swimmers to competitive level swimmers.

The Jubilee Swimming academy follows the National Plan for Teaching Swimmers (NPTS). This 10-stage plan was produced by Swim England, to build confidence in children as they learn.

Most children spend between 2 to 5 terms in each stage. Our teachers continually assess the children and will move them up to the next stage of the plan as soon as they're ready.

After completing all 10 stages, a child can choose to join the Jubilee Academy Squad. This helps the most competent swimmers to further develop their stamina and stroke efficiency.

You can:

All our instructors are Swim England or Swim Teacher Association (STA) qualified and have undergone an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Your child should bring swimming shorts or swimsuit, a towel and a swimming cap to each session. We also recommend goggles, but these are not essential.

All bookings are subject to the Jubilee Swimming Academy terms and conditions.

Summer / Autumn term timetable

We offer classes from Monday to Friday after school, and on Saturday mornings. 

  • Stage 1 to 10 lessons: 30 minutes 
  • Jubilee Academy Squad lessons: 60 minutes 

There will be no swimming lessons from 26 May until 15 September due to the swimming pool and plant room refurbishment project.
