About

Matt qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2012. With over a decade of experience in diverse and challenging clinical environments, Matt began his career within a Crisis Team, quickly gaining frontline experience in acute mental health care.

Driven by a commitment to innovative and compassionate care, he went on to establish a substance misuse service using an assertive outreach approch across Wiltshire for Combat Stress, where he supported Veterans struggling with addiction. Building on this success, Matt became the Nurse Manager for the parent service, Turning Point, enhancing treatment accessibility and quality.

Returning to the NHS, Matt took on the role of Clinical Operations Manager ensuring the implementation of the newly formed Military Mental Health Service across the South West, (now recognised as Op Courage). This position involved both team leadership and the delivery of clinical care for military personnel and Veterans, helping to shape and develop this essential service.

Following this, Matt expanded his expertise within liaison and diversion and offender health, further diversifying his clinical portfolio.

In 2022, he transitioned to academia, sharing his deep knowledge with future healthcare professionals. Passionate about leadership and evidence-based practice, Matt is dedicated to exploring how informed decision-making drives effective clinical care and fosters resilient, psychologically safe, and high-performing teams.
