Paula is Head of Department for Nursing, Midwifery and Health in the School of Health Sciences. She is responsible for the vision and strategy of the Department as well as the delivery of a range of outstanding education, research and innovation programmes, alongside NHS partnerships and international relationships. She is passionate about making a positive impact on patient experience, service provision and the healthcare workforce, through providing quality education, underpinned by world leading research. Paula employs a creative and flexible solution focussed approach to meet the needs of all stakeholders involved in health care delivery. She provides exemplary leadership and direction to staff at all levels, whilst teaching students the skills they require for modern healthcare delivery.
Paula is a Mental Health Nurse by backgroud with a wide range of clinical, education and reserach experience. Paula has been part of the Mental Health Nursing community for over 30 years and has been involved in influencing the direction of education in the UK. Paula brings with her a strong focus on community nursing and working with people in complex and challening situations. Paula is currently QAA Reviewer/NMC Visitor approving nursing programmes in universities across the UK.
