Francesca is Senior Teaching Fellow in Mental Health Nursing with a clinical background as a Specialist Nurse in eating disorders. She is also a PhD student in the Centre for Innovation in Mental Health within the School of Psychology.
Previously to her current role, Francesca specialised in supporting those with high physical health risks associated with Anorexia Nervosa and delivering individual and group psychotherapy for service users with a range of eating disorders.
Her teaching interests include understanding models of emotional dysreguation and associated maladaptive behaviours from a DBT perspective; eating disorders accross the age continium; family and carers work and principles of recovery, empowerment and self management within mental health.
Francesca is interested in research around understanding and championing the therapeutic skills of the mental health nurse, and interventions to support recovery within eating disorders. Her doctoral research focusses on the effectiveness and impact of Specialist Supportive Clinical Management psychotherapy in adults with Anorexia Nervosa.
