Sustainability and Materials

A researcher wearing safety goggles works with chemicals in a glovebox

The Sustainability and Materials group uses emerging chemical technologies to address world challenges in catalysis, clean energy, carbon capture, and healthcare diagnostics.

About

Our research covers a range of topics related to sustainability in chemical processes. These topics include:

  • carbon capture
  • utilisation and storage
  • catalytic reactions
  • efficient separation processes
  • water technologies

Our research spans the molecular and macro scales, from molecular synthesis to large-scale process modelling.

Coordination chemistry and solid-state materials also feature prominetly in our work. This includes research into nanoparticles, porous frameworks, mixed anion materials, thin films, and coatings. We use these materials to tackle problems in energy, sustainability, healthcare, and diagnostics.
