About
Rosalind Edwards is Professor of Sociology based in the department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology (SSPC) in the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Rosalind’s research focuses on family lives and policies, on advancing qualitative, qualitative longitudinal and mixed research methods, and on learning about decolonising and Indigenous partnership research approaches. She contributes to teaching on race and ethnicity, and research methods.
Rosalind is also a Visiting Fellow at the National Centre for Research Methods, coordinated from the University of Southampton.

Current research
Rosalind currently is involved in four research projects:
An ESRC-funded study of parents’ views of services linking together their data sets and applying predictive modelling analyses.
An EU-funded partnership project developing capacity in mixed methods longitudinal lifecourse research.
A British Academy-funded study of the role of sociologists’ wives in classic community studies.
An AHRC-funded Indigenous partnership project exploring decolonisation of participatory action research.

Teaching
Rosalind’s has run and contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate modules on:

She is a Personal Academic Tutor to undergraduate students, and also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
Rosalind supervises doctoral students in her main areas of expertise, especially family lives and policies, and qualitative research methods advancement.

Biography
Rosalind is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and a founding and co-editor of the International Journal of Social Research Methodology.
She has held the roles of Faculty Chair of the Ethics Committee and School Director of Research at the University.
She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences
