Jessie was motivated to pursue a postgraduate qualification by her mentor at work. She is currently studying the MSc Amputation and Prosthetic Rehabilitation programme.
"Full-time postgraduate studies are especially beneficial for professionals like me, who have been working for several years, as they provide a refreshing perspective on topics of interest and an opportunity for in-depth learning.
Most importantly, pursuing full-time postgraduate study offers the protected time and space to fully engage with and internalise the knowledge being taught.
As a physiotherapist, I value the multidisciplinary environment of my programme, which broadens my perspectives and deepens my appreciation for the roles and expertise of different professions.”
An international community
As a Health Sciences student, Jessie joined a community of professionals from each of the healthcare disciplines.
"One of my best experiences so far has been meeting people from all over the world. The University has a diverse international community. I’ve particularly enjoyed the “Be active” events organised by the University. These events offer a variety of sports and fitness activities, providing a way to stay active, maintain balance whilst studying, and connect with students in a fun environment.”
After graduation, I plan to return to Singapore to continue working at the same place I was employed prior to starting my degree. I believe the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired through my postgraduate studies will enable me to approach my work being more intentional and serving my patients more effectively and meaningfully.
