About the course
Taught over 2 days, this course will build on your existing knowledge so that you can sail safely and confidently in a variety of conditions. Your instructor will help you to develop boat handling and problem solving skills such as sailing without a rudder and recovering a person from the water.
During this course, you’ll learn to:
- sail without a rudder
- sail without a centre board
- right an inverted dinghy
- launch and recover boats in different circumstances
- stop and anchor safely
- reduce sail
- recover a man overboard
Dinghy Sailing courses are taught on a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 9 students. However, they often run on a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students.
After completing this course, you’ll be confident handling a variety of situations that can happen while afloat.
Required experience
To join this course we recommend that you have completed the RYA Dinghy Level 3 - Better Sailing.
