Project overview
This project aims to establish a platform in Southampton to foster civil society engagement with Deep Sea governance beyond national jurisdiction (BNJ). To reach that objective, we propose to create a Knowledge Exchange Enterprise (KEE) framework that advises enterprises and NGOs in the youth and cultural sector, channelling knowledge from Earth, Ocean and Social Sciences and Humanities to shape and promote ways to valorise underwater natural and cultural heritage. In this proposal, we aim for two main outcomes:
1) to inform deep-sea stakeholders (civil society, nation delegates, industry, youth and NGOs) of the relevance of this interdisciplinary-driven platform for ongoing and future governance and business, including emerging industries developing and applying technology.
2) to strengthen consultancy expertise at Southampton, consolidating an interdisciplinary network of experts and kickstarting connections with the industry sector.
