About us
Together with our clinical partners at University Hospital Southampton, and collaborators from other Schools, Faculties and Institutes, we bridge the translational pipeline from basic science to clinical research. Our multidisciplinary teams have expertise in a variety of methodologies including clinical trials, laboratory science, imaging, genomics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, quantitative and qualitative research. Key areas of research for the CES Paediatric and Child Health group include:
- paediatric immunology and infectious diseases
- paediatric ophthalmology
- paediatric respiratory medicine
- paediatric sleep medicine
- perinatal and developmental neurology
Members of the Paediatric and Child Health Group train undergraduate medical students during their paediatric clinical courses. We welcome students to join us during their research modules (MMedSci and BMedSci).
The Paediatric and Child Health Group supports the development and training of the next generation of academic paediatricians, and those from different disciplines including allied health physicians, laboratory scientists and physiologists.
Our research is supported by the Biomedical Imaging Unit, NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre and NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility.
