Current research

Helen is Professor of Primary Care Research and is a primary care health services researcher. Helen’s research expertise is in digital primary care, exploring digital access through to delivery of healthcare using remote approaches. Helen is currently involved in several studies in the UK, and in studies based in Denmark and Norway. She currently leads NIHR funded research on making access to general practice sustainable and a study on how best to support general practice and patients to use digital services. Helen has generated impact from her work, co-authoring a REF21 impact case study on digital primary care.

Helen has a particular interest in encouraging capacity building in academic primary care and currently supervises an NIHR In Practice Fellow and PhD students both in the UK and based in Europe.
