Biography
Graduated with a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Biology in 2016. Took a year out of education to gain some industry expereince within a microbiology laboratory (Intertek). Obtained a Master's of Research (MRes) degree in Toxicology from Newcastle University - during this degree also carried out a research project exploring the hepatotoxic effects of enviromental compounds. In 2019, moved to the other end of England to study a PhD at the University of Southampton in Nutrition Endocringology and Metabolism - supervised by Professors Jazz Sethi, Chris Byrne and Philip Calder. The focus of this PhD project was to explore novel putative factors assocaited with the presence of liver fibrosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Obtained a Research Fellow position with Professor Chris Byrne focussed on exploring novel factors involved in NAFLD pathophysiology in a clinical setting.
