About
I am a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining Southampton, I worked for 3 years as a post-doc in University of Manchester. I worked in the area of hydrogen production, carbon dioxide capture and utilization using chemical looping technique.

Biography
Syed Zaheer Abbas is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Southampton. His research is devoted to the process intensification (chemical looping, Carbon dioxide capture and utilization, hydrogen) applied to sustainable routes for energy and chemical production by using experimental and modelling techniques. He obtained a PhD at the University of Leeds in 2013. Prior to joining the University of Southampton as Lecturer in 2022, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Manchester (2019 – 2022), where he was involved in several international projects related to chemical looping, carbon dioxide capture and utilization technologies. He also worked as an assistant professor in University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (2017 – 2019), where he taught and supervised various undergraduate and postgraduate students. Since 2019, he has been involved in several research projects (with a credit share > £ 2m) including decarbonisation of steel industry EPSRC BREINSTORM and H2020 project C4U.
