With a background in Sport and Exercise Science, and an MSc (Hons) in Sports Biomechanics from Loughborough University, Izzy pursued her PhD at the University of Southampton, focussed on performance optimisation in swimming. Working with British Swimming and the UK Sports Institute, she explored the efficacy of interventions in the development of underwater fly-kick techniques.
Currently, Izzy serves as a Research Fellow in the Performance Sports Engineering Laboratory within Maritime Engineering, supporting British Swimming's efforts to enhance freestyle swimming techniques. Simultaneously, she works as a Senior Technical Manager in Health Sciences, offering technical support to students and staff across the school, including within the Skin Sensing Research Group at the Clinical Academic Facility at Southampton General Hospital. She also contributes to the academic community by serving on the ethics committee within the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences.
In addition to these roles, Izzy has engaged in consultancy collaborations with National Governing Bodies associated with the UK Sports Institute and industrial partners, contributing practically to both sports and health science applications.
