- Early phase clinical trials
- Translational clinical research
- Oesophageal adenocarcinoma
- Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours
Current research
Dr Hill is involved in a number of laboratory based projects, focusing on the immune microenvironment of oesophageal adenocarcinoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumours. A particular focus is the infiltration or exclusion of primary tumours, and metastases with effector CD8+ T lymphocytes. This builds on his research identifying important populations of CD8+ tissue resident memory cells within oesophageal adenocarcinoma, and links with key collaborators in the Innovation for Translation Research Group and the Centre for Cancer Immunology.
He is also interested in the deployment of early phase clinical trials, particularly of novel immunotherapy agents in GI tract cancers and has experience of this both in Southampton and as a visiting clinical research fellow at the Oxford Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit. He currently supports a portfolio of studies as a co-investigator, ranging from small molecule inhibitors, to personalised cancer vaccines and cellular therapies.
