Dr Michail (Michalis) Veliziotis is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton. He is currently a co-director of the Work Futures Research Centre at the University of Southampton. He has served as Head of the Department of HRM & OB, and was formerly a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Work, Employment and Society.

Current research
Michalis’s research focuses on investigating how labour market and workplace institutions affect how employees work and behave, how organisations perform, and how national labour markets work and perform.
Michalis is interested in supervising PhD students on topics related to the link between labour market institutions and the comparative outcomes of people, organizations and/or countries, the determinants and impact of job quality, and the implications of trade union activity for employee behaviour and organizational performance. Teaching
Michalis teaches on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules within the field of Human Resource Management. He is the Module Leader for MANG1048 Business in Society and MANG6241 European Labour Markets. He also supervises dissertation projects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Biography
Michalis holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Essex. His teaching and research focus on understanding how labour market and workplace institutions shape (and/or are shaped by) the work experiences of employees, the performance of organisations, and the comparative standing of national labour markets. Before joining the University of Southampton in 2016, Michalis worked as a Research Fellow in Employment Studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
