Research Group

Digital Health and Biomedical Engineering

Researcher using some biomedical engineering equipment

Our group brings together engineers and computer scientists to discover new approaches to prevent, diagnose and manage health and medical conditions. Our research is end-to-end across digital health from sensors and meditech through to data science, AI and decision systems.

About

Our interdisciplinary research addresses a wide range of topics from fundamental research through to translational patient-centred research and innovation. Examples include:

  • sensors and biosensors
  • control system design and rehabilitation technologies
  • lab-on-a-chip and microfluidics
  • biomedical signal processing and machine learning
  • wearable technology for healthcare
  • digital behavioural interventions
  • autonomous disease management
  • AI and health
  • data trusts for healthcare
  • consent and privacy management

Facilities

Researchers can make use of our dedicated multi-function biocontainment lab, the Centre for Hybrid Biodevices.

Our dedicated engineers and technicians respond to both research and industrial needs within our Nanofabrication cleanrooms
