Dr Nic Fair is currently a Senior Knowledge Engineer in the IT-Innovation group within the Digital Health and Biomedical Engineering group in the School of Electronics and Computer Science within the University of Southampton.
He is working on a range of health, manufacturing and agriculture projects funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 and UK National Institute of Health Research.
With a PhD in Digital Education and Web Science, he has research interests in Personal Learning Networks, VR/AR/XR/MR in education and training, ontology development, and networked learning. He currently supervises three PhD students within the VR/MR and advanced data visualisation domains.
He has spent eighteen years teaching in a wide range of educational contexts, including Further and Higher Education and has previously led a range of innovation modules at the University of Southampton.
He has been a UNESCO Open Education Resources mentor with the Bahraini Ministry of Education; mentor to the Web Science Institute funded 'Research while you sleep - SleepeR' intelligent study buddy research project with the Winchester School of Art; and has been seconded to the UK Cabinet Office Open INnovation Team.
He is a current member of the University of Southampton Senate.
