The Southampton Primary Care Research Centre (PCRC) is one of the world’s leading primary care centres of excellence, offering an excellent spectrum of expertise in methodologies and a remarkable range of topic areas. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework PCRC achieved the highest rating in our unit of assessment (UoA2) for outputs with a Grade Point Average of 3.71 and 94% considered as 'internationally excellent' or 'world leading'. Applicants must have a first degree in a discipline relevant to primary care research and will be expected to complete a PhD, usually full-time over 3 years, during the award period.
The award offers traditional project-specific training in areas of particular importance to primary care and awarded to applicants from diverse backgrounds including e.g., medical statistics, social sciences, health economics, health psychology. The award will be taken up in September 2024 and is offered either full or part-time. You can view the list of potential projects here.
