About the project
This University of Southampton Mayflower Scholarship provides an exciting and novel opportunity to undertake training in research and education. You will study for a 5 years PhD in the disciplines of Geography or Environmental Science at a Russell Group University. The Scholarship provides full-time funding for 4.5 years.
The successful candidate will join our vibrant research community of more than 40 postgraduate students in the School of Geography and Environmental Science.
You will select your research topic from a list of project titles and PhD supervisors in one of the following disciplines:
- Environmental Management
- Environmental Change
- Earth system processes
- Economic / Health Geography
- Projects will include technical applications of GIS or remote sensing
As an integral part of postgraduate training, you will deliver education to undergraduate students in Geography or Environmental Science areas aligned to your research interests for up to ten weeks of the first three years of the PhD. You will also receive training and guidance in teaching, and you will work towards successful attainment of fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. This will provide an excellent foundation for you if you are considering a career in an academic setting.
