Project overview

‘The Fishing App’ is a smartphone application to support sustainable .small-scale fishing. Fishers will receive real time data of fish catch locations and weather-related advisories, saving them both time, effort and money spent on vessel fuels. The app will also enable local civil society organisations to collect data in real time on fishing stocks, GPS location and colour of the ocean at that location to develop sustainable fishing strategies and policies as well as climate change and biodiversity related educational awareness.

Research interests

  • A key question that Bindi is interested in asking is: What shapes citizenship and a sense of belonging to the nation amongst immigrants and established ethnic minority communities?
  • Bindi is also interested in exploring the role of social capital for developing interdisciplinary solutions to climate crisis and biodiversity loss for marginalised communities.
