Working with schools and colleges
We partner with schools, colleges and the University Hospital Trust to connect young people with our research.
We are opening the doors to the next generation of scientists and doctors, inspiring and enabling young people to direct change for all and make healthy lifestyle choices.
- the Faculty of Medicine offers work experience opportunities to A level/BTech students interested in exploring science and/or medicine as a career
- the Faculty also runs the very popular LIVE virtual work experience, aimed at Year 12 students interested in studying Medicine
- the University's Learn with US (Outreach) programme provides a range of events and activities to engage and inspire learners who have the potential to enter higher education, but who may not currently be considering it
- LifeLab empowers children and young people to make positive lifestyle choices through science
- University Hospital Southampton gives the opportunity to shadow clinical or non-clinical professionals to gain an insight into working within an NHS Trust

- the Civic University Agreement underpins a wealth of activity from the University of Southampton in support of communities across the region
- our Listening cafés focuses on building trust through sharing food, providing creative activities, and prompting informal conversations
- the Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRC) brings together local government, community knowledge and academic research skills to improve the evidence base for policy decisions on health and health inequalities
- Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) is the umbrella body for local voluntary and community groups working in Southampton, providing specialist support, advice and training
