Cancer B-Cell Group

A gloved hand holding a petri dish with a pink solution in a laboratory setting.

Our research translates new understanding of tumour B-cell biology into clinical practice.

Our group investigates how the structure and function of the key driver, the B-cell receptor (BCR), influences the development of B-cell cancers and how it can be tackled with new therapies.

Child page cards

I work with scientists and clinicians translating scientific discoveries into clinical advancements for patients with B cell lymphomas and leukaemias. By focusing on the fundamental receptor driving cancer B cells, the B-cell receptor, our work has contributed to the development of drugs that have revolutionised the therapeutic approach for these cancers. We are committed to continuing this mission.
Professor of Haematology
My passion is uncovering the key mechanisms of disease in aggressive B-cell cancers, investigating receptor-environment interactions to develop targeted therapies and improve patient outcomes.
Research Fellow in Cancer Immunology
I am an Emeritus Professor of Immunology who established the field of immunogenetics of B-cell tumours in Southampton in the 1980s. In 2018, I was the first UK recipient of the Henry Stratton medal awarded by the American Society of Hematology. I continue to act as a mentor to the B-cell group.
