About

Dr. Xuan Li is a Lecturer in Mechatronics Research Group. Coming from a background of vibration analysis and control system design, he is specialised in the development of novel miniature ultrasonic orthopaedic devices using new generation of piezoelectric materials for robotic minimally invasive surgeries. He completed his PhD in 2014 on autoresonance control system design for ultrasonic drilling applications from the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering Loughborough University. Since then, he has been involved in a range of research activities using power ultrasonic technology, such as ultrasonic percussive drill tool for Mars mission, laser ultrasonic assisted hybrid machining of next generation aerospace alloys, and integration of miniature ultrasonic device with surgical robot for minimally invasive surgeries.

With more than 15 years of experiences in power ultrasonics, Xuan is looking for opportunities to conduct next stage research work on understanding the limitation of state-of-art of the design of power ultrasonic devices and provide scientific solutions.
