Mr Georgios Alexios' current research focuses on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) and the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (COLREGs). His research considers whether the existing maritime collisions' regulatory framework will be applicable to MASS and subsequently whether the obligation to maintain a proper look-out by sight and hearing as required by Rule 5 COLREGs can be discharged by alternative technological means. Furthermore, Mr Georgios Alexios examines how can liability be established for collisions involving remotely operated vessels.
Mr Georgios Alexios has expertise in teaching a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including LAWS2044 Remedies in Contract & Torts, LAWS2045 The Law of Torts, LAWS6178 Admiralty Law: Enforcement of Maritime Claims and FEEG2006 Engineering Management and Law.
