Ashish Dwivedi is a Film and Animation researcher, creative editor, and writer, currently based at the University of Southampton where he is researching the cinema(s) of Guru Dutt towards his doctorate. He holds an M.Phil. from Swansea University, where he authored a polysemic criticism of children's animations against theories of socialisation and edutainment.
He currently researches around early popular Bombay cinema, stardom studies, archival studies, politics of memory, animation-utopian Studies, Indian Aesthetics, and modern literary theory, while enjoying creativity that interplays the triumvirate of tragedy, satire, and liberation. His work has featured in a range of academic and creative publications, including Afterimage, Film-Philosophy, Quarterly Review of Film and Video, Café Dissensus, E-Cine India, Muse India, Silhouette Magazine, Poetry Pacific, and Bandit Fiction, among other places.
