About
Carin Reisinger fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange in the marine and maritime space within the University of Southampton and beyond.
Through the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI), she facilitates interdisciplinary research, cross-faculty community building, and collaborations with external stakeholders. She supports science-led communications and public engagement, and coordinates the institute's presence at major marine and maritime events to showcase research excellence to diverse audiences.
With a background in ecology and a career spanning research, scientific communication, and event coordination, Carin brings a global perspective to her role. She has lived and worked in South Africa, France, California, and the sub-Antarctic (Marion Island), gaining firsthand experience of the challenges facing ocean environments. Her expertise in research, translation, and scientific proofreading enriches her ability to connect disciplines and highlight the University’s impact in marine and maritime research and innovation.
