Biography
Neil Simpson Treloar is a Senior Teaching Fellow on the International Music Management MA and the Music Department Employability lead.
I am eternally fascinated by the Global Music Industry and have worked across the live, recorded and publishing industry in various capacities for over 25 years. Through my role at the University of Southampton, I thrive on combining this experience with continued analysis of technological, cultural, and socio-political factors that relentlessly change the world around us all.
As an Artist Manager, I have witnessed first-hand the euphoria and occasional chaos of working within a very rapidly growing and global artist business. At the alternative end of the spectrum, I relish working with early-stage artists developing repertoire and audience growth whilst navigating the challenges of the independent, self-releasing start-up business.
Previous to frontline artist management, I enjoyed mentoring thousands of young artists, musicians, producers and entrepreneurs, helping them navigate their own professional development paths at the Academy of Contemporary Music. It is wonderful seeing so many of these people working across the music industry today.
