My PhD is looking at retrograde signalling between the chloroplast and the nucleus, the nature of these signals and the potenital implications in drought tolerance. I am particularly interested in how plants respond to abiotic and biotic stress and how they can be engineered to deal with the inevitable consequences of climate change. Additionally, I find chloroplast-to-nucleus signalling interesting due to the amount of work left to be done in this field and the various potential applications.
