About
Becki has worked in academic development at the university since 2016. She first worked in Widening Participation and Social Mobility as part of the award-winning pre-entry initiative, the Learn with US Transition Programme. Since the start of 2023, she has worked in the Centre for Higher Education Practice, focused on the academic development of Postgraduate Researchers.
In addition to this, Becki researches aesthetic procedures. She is broadly interested in how non-surgical treatments - like Botox and dermal fillers - are normalised and routinised in 'everyday' (gendered) aesthetic practices. Her recent research has focused on aesthetic practitioners. Specifically, how they navigate cosmetic entrepreneurship in an increasingly saturated market and how they experience their role as 'gatekeepers' of beauty.

Write about yourself in the third person. Aim for 100 to 150 words covering the main points about who you are and what you currently do. Clear, simple language is best. You can include specialist or technical terms.
You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.
