I am a macroeconomist with broad research interests. My recent research has focused on monetary policy, computational methods, and the implications of social networks for asset prices. I teach macroeconomics modules and supervise PhD students.
My recent research is on monetary policy, computational methods, and the implications of social networks for financial markets and the wider economy. My project ‘Endogenous extrapolation and boom-bust cycles’ was funded by the ESRC Rebuilding Macroeconomics initiative, and is available on my webpage. Other recent work includes pensions, economic growth, and asset pricing.
I teach the modules ECON1021 Principles of Macroeconomics and ECON3008 Macroeconomic Policy 3. I have several teaching prizes, including the Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award and the Excellence in VLE Award.
I have a PhD in Economics (Cardiff) and I was previously ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Glasgow (2012-14). Prior to that, I taught economics at the University of Oxford. I have published in journals such as Computational Economics, Economics Letters and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. My work has also featured in non-academic outlets such as VoxEU and the Financial Times. I joined Southampton as a Lecturer in 2014 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020.
