Your staff profile is made up of information taken from systems including Pure and Subscribe. This page explains how to update each section of your profile.

How to update your personal details

Profile photo
Upload your profile photo in Subscribe (opens in a new tab). Your profile photo in Pure is not linked to your public staff profile. Choose a clear, recent headshot where you are easily recognisable. Your image should be at least 340 by 395 pixels.

Name
To change your name or prefix title contact Ask HR (opens in new tab) If you want to update an academic title you'll need to provide evidence e.g. a PhD certificate. The way your name is displayed is automatic and cannot be changed. You can also update your post-nominal letters in Subscribe (opens in a new tab).

Job title
Raise a request through ServiceNow (opens in a new tab) to change your job title (40 characters maximum) unless you're on the ERE career pathway. If you're on the ERE path you can not change your main job title, but you can request other minor updates through Ask HR (opens in new tab). If you have more than one post only your main job title will display here, but you can add further posts or roles in other sections of your profile.

Research interests (for researchers only)
Add up to 5 research interests. The first 3 will appear in your staff profile next to your name. The full list will appear on your research page. Keep these brief and focus on the keywords people may use when searching for your work. Use a different line for each one.

In Pure (opens in a new tab), select ‘Edit profile’. Under the heading 'Curriculum and research description', select 'Add profile information'. In the dropdown menu, select 'Research interests: use separate lines'.

Contact details
Add or update your email address, telephone number and postal address in Subscribe (opens in a new tab). Use your University email address for your primary email.

You can link to your Google Scholar, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts through Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’. In the 'Links' section, use the 'Add link' button.

ORCID ID
Create or connect your ORCID ID in Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’ and then 'Create or Connect your ORCID ID'.

Accepting PhD applicants (for researchers only)
Choose to show whether you’re currently accepting PhD applicants or not in Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’. In the 'Portal details' section, select 'Yes' or 'No' to indicate your choice.

About

Reem Alasadi, is a Principal Teaching Fellow and The Programme Leader for MA Textile Design and MA Fashion Design at Winchester School of Art, and has made a significant impact on the fashion scene. Alongside her role as an academic, she has a successful career as a fashion designer.

Reem's unwavering passion and dedication to design have propelled her forward, earning her the position of MA Coordinator for both MA Fashion and MA Textile Design until 2022. She actively contributes to various academic units, including Athena Swan SAT and Exam Boards, showcasing her commitment to educational excellence.

With over two decades of experience in the fashion industry, Reem has cultivated extensive expertise as a practitioner. Her accomplishments include establishing valuable connections with influential entities such as the British Fashion Council, UK Fashion and Textile Association, Fashion Revolution, UNICEF, and esteemed local and international designers.

Reem is renowned for her unconventional approach to creativity, consistently bringing fresh perspectives and encouraging innovative thinking. Her visionary mindset has left a lasting impression on the fashion world, solidifying her status as a respected figure in the industry.

How to update your 'about' section

You can update this in Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’. Under the heading and then ‘Curriculum and research description’, select ‘Add profile information’. In the dropdown menu, select - ‘About’.

Write about yourself in the third person. Aim for 100 to 150 words covering the main points about who you are and what you currently do. Clear, simple language is best. You can include specialist or technical terms.

You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.

Research groups
Any research groups you belong to will automatically appear on your profile. Speak to your line manager if these are incorrect. Please do not raise a ticket in Ask HR.

Research interests

Research projects
Research Council funded projects will automatically appear here. The active project name is taken from the finance system.

Teaching

The Company @WSA

One of the biggest achievements is the establishment of “The Company @ WSA”, an internal internship initiative that Reem has co-created with her colleague Dr Eirini Bazaki

The company is a cross-programme, collaborative, student-led, co-curricular activity that has been organised annually for the past 7 years, and provides students with a realistic experience of working in a real company environment

The development of employability skills is a key aspect of students' ongoing personal and professional development; The Company @ WSA was conceived to facilitate the enhancement of a range of attributes and skills that can be transferred into situations beyond study, from leadership to crowdfunding, dressing to photography. The founders realised the potential of establishing a co-curricular, internal scheme that would enable these skills to be developed and flourish.

Students can transfer this knowledge to their own business, within a company, or within a community. All these contexts require a specific set of transformative creative problem-solving, collaboration, communication, teamwork and design skills.

The Company @WSA and has been recognised in 2021 with the VC award for teaching innovation and received £10,000 HIEF Research Stimulus Fund (SIAH), Project title: Student Employability through the Company: An Enterprise Project.

Biography

Reem Alasadi is a forward-thinking leader in fashion and textiles, with a 360-degree approach that envisions the needs of future designers. Her leadership style combines individuality and collaboration, inspiring both her team and students to think creatively. Reem's emphasis on celebrating diversity, promoting creativity, and fostering community engagement and inclusivity creates a vibrant learning environment.

Drawing on her background in sustainable, and deconstruction design and extensive knowledge of the retail industry, from styling, merchandising, designing, retailing, Reem brings valuable inspiration to the Fashion and Textile department.

Her consultancies with renowned brands such as Stella McCartney, John Richmond, Robert Carrie Williams, and Ralph Lauren further validate her expertise, plus selling inspirations to many from the Arcadia groups to haute couture.

In 2009, at London Fashion week Reem made a significant impact on the fashion world by challenging conventional norms and introducing a revolutionary approach to showcasing and selling fashion collections. She ingeniously combined two seasons into one runway show, disrupting traditional practices.

Driven by a commitment to raising ‘smart way design’ and ‘less-waste’ awareness, Reem firmly believes that adopting the one runway/two season approach can substantially reduce our carbon footprint and have a tangible impact on energy efficiency. She envisions a collective effort towards greater creativity, productivity, and respect for the Earth's resources and our own time, energy, and creativity.

Reem's work has received extensive media coverage, with features in newspapers such as The Telegraph, The Times, The Evening Standard, Le Monde, The Observer, and The Guardian. Her designs have also graced the pages of notable magazines, including Vogue (English and French editions), i-D, The Face, Nylon, Tank, ELLE, Super Super, Surface, The Sunday Times Style, ICON, Blueprint, and her collaboration with trend forecaster Li Edelkoort for the publication Bloom.

With her unwavering passion and dedication, Reem continues to shape the future of fashion and Textiles, by empowering the next generation of designers.

This section will only appear if you enter the information into Pure (opens in a new tab).
