About
As Professor in Medical Statistics, Dankmar has a leading role in the area in Mathematical Sciences and also in Medicine. Dankmar also represents the discipline within the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) of which he is a Deputy Director.
Dankmar teaches a third year course on Statistical Inference and a second semester course on the MSc Statistics and MSc Statistics with Applications in Medicine on Flexible Regression. He also teaches in Medicine within the MSc Public Health on Advanced Statistical Methods in Epidemiology.
Dankmar has set up a series of short courses in Medical Statistics which are currently offered within the CPD programme of S3RI.

Dankmar's current interests are in meta-analysis and the application of capture-recapture methods in health and social sciences.

Biography
Dankmar studied mathematics and social sciences in Bielefeld and Berlin, and received a Diploma and PhD in Mathematics from the Free University Berlin in 1981. Danmar was then a Research Associate in Educational Sciences at the Free niversity Berlin between 1978-1982.
Dankmar then took a permanent position as Statistician in Medicine at the Free University Berlin. He received his Habilitation in 1992 for Biometry and Epidemiology.
In 2005, Dankmar moved to the University of Reading as Chair in Statistics and in 2011 to Southampton to take a Chair in Medical Statistics. He also held Visiting positions in Vienna, Graz, PennState, Bangkok and Manila.
