Dr Rugang Lu is Chinese Coordinator in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton.
I studied my BA in English Language and Literature in Shandong University of China, MA and PhD in Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching in the University of Southampton, and Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in the SOAS of University of London. I am also certified as a TCFL teacher by the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) of China. Before I started teaching Chinese in Southampton in 2004, I had taught as a language lecturer and then associate professor in Ningbo University of China for almost two decades. Apart from my professional training and main research interest in applied linguistics and language teaching, I also have extensive knowledge in Chinese visual culture and have been a practicing artist in Chinese painting for many years.
