Current research
Professor Jiang has interdisciplinary research expertise in the fields of wearable sensors, biomechanics, digital health, micro/nano systems and functional materials. With over 20 years of experience, she has conducted pioneering research in healthcare technologies, intelligent body interface systems, and advanced micro/nano devices, addressing real-world unmet needs. Liudi has a proven capability to bridge different disciplines through collaborations with leading researchers in the UK and internationally. She has extensive experience in user-centred design for devices and co-delivering impactful research outcomes with key stakeholders.
To date, she has built an extensive funding portfolio by attracting over £20M in research funding from UKRI (EPSRC, MRC), IUK, NIHR, the British Heart Foundation, and various industry partners. Professor Jiang has published over 100 papers to date. She is the Engineering Lead for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Prosthetics & Orthotics and the School of Engineering Lead for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Technology Engineering. She is also an Executive Committee member for the ISPO UK. Currently, she heads the Engineering Materials Research Group at the University of Southampton.
