Biography
Christopher has worked in University of Southampton data and web systems since 1997, when Electronics and Computer Science hired him as a webmaster. He was lead developer for version 2.0 and 3.0 of the EPrints software and because of this was involved in the early days of the open access movement. He set up the University of Southampton open data service, for which he accepted a THE award on behalf of the University. In 2018 Christopher was awarded the Jason Farradane award in recognition of outstanding contribution to the information profession.
Christopher has built many University systems and services including
- (with Jules Field) The all.soton system for automatically creating mailing lists from HR & student data
- (with Jules Field) The ECS Intranet & Handin System
- (with the Library) The University EPrints service
- The ECS Loadings system
- (with other members of the Technical Innovation Team) CAPE - a tool for making static websites with browser side search and browse of datasets provided by Excel sheets
