Hazel Everitt is a Professor of Primary Care Research in the Primary Care Research Centre at the University of Southampton. The Primary Care Research Centre is part of the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education within the Faculty of Medicine.
She is also Deputy Academic Capacity Development lead for the NIHR School of Primary Care Research (SPCR).
She undertakes clinical work as a GP at New Horizons Medical Partnership in Totton, Southampton.
Her research interests include supporting patients to self-manage their conditions, improving communication in healthcare consultations, developing internet based support tools and improving the translation of research evidence into clinical practice. She designs and leads large clinical trials in primary care.
Hazel is co-Author of the Oxford Handbook of General Practice, now in it's 5th edition. The handbook provides a comprehensive concise evidence synthesis and information sources to help GPs and other primary care clinicians manage the broad range of conditions seen in primary care.
