Professor Denis McManus is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southampton. He is the author of The Enchantment of Words: Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (Oxford University Press, 2006) and Heidegger and the Measure of Truth (Oxford University Press, 2012). He is the editor of Wittgenstein and Scepticism (Routledge, 2004) and Heidegger, Authenticity and the Self (Routledge 2015).

Denis is currently working on a range of issues, including the nature of self-expression, responsibility, and self-knowledge, and the possibility of objectivity and ontological knowledge - much of this work shaped by his study of Wittgenstein and Heidegger.

Biography
Before taking up his position at Southampton, Denis McManus studied philosophy at the Queen's College, Oxford and Emmanuel College, Cambridge and was a Herchel Smith Visiting Fellow at Harvard University.
