Module overview

The module provides an introduction to the physics of the ocean including aspects of both descriptive and dynamical physical oceanography. The focus is on the understanding of physical processes which control the movement of water, heat, salt and other properties in the global ocean. Major topics covered include the dynamics of wind-driven ocean circulation, description of the thermohaline circulation and the role of the physical ocean in earth’s climate variability and change.
