Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Apply a recovery-orientated values-based approach to mental health care which encourages people’s active participation in every aspect of care and intervention.
- Explain the communication and interpersonal skills required to engage people in a therapeutic alliance.
- Articulate the principles, purposes and different types of assessment in mental health nursing to arrive at a collaborative definition of the person’s main mental health difficulties.
- Recognise patterns of symptoms consistent with diagnostic categories of mental disorder.

The formative assessment gives you an opportunity to rehearse a clinical assessment and receive oral feedback.
