Module overview
This module introduces the fundamentals of contemporary music production– analogue and digital audio, MIDI, digital audio workstations, synthesisers, samplers, processors; practical audio recording, MIDI sequencing and audio mixing.

- Deploy a range of editing techniques to manipulate music and sound on computer
- Use a range of techniques to capture music/sound using software
- Produce an appropriate mix of musical material combining a number of sources.

- Identify and utilise connections between technical parameters and audio outcomes.
- Select appropriate tools to control specific audio features.
- Assess the quality of a recording and identify potential issues.
Syllabus
Topics will typically include fundamentals of:
the music production process, microphones and recording techniques, digital audio, effects processing, basic sound synthesis and sampling, MIDI sequencing and audio mixing, critical listening.
