Module overview
Ensemble performance is a crucial skill in any musician's portfolio, in addition to being one of the most rewarding aspects of musical life.
In this module you will prepare a 15-18 minute programme of instrumental, vocal or mixed ensemble music of your own choice, which is coached regularly by specialist members of staff.

Syllabus
This module is designed for musicians to develop their technical, musical, and listening skills on their chosen instrument by applying it to ensemble performance. Your ensemble will meet with your instructor for coaching sessions and be required to learn repertoire appropriate to your level and year.
You will have the opportunity to attend and perform in lunchtime concerts and engage in relevant performance projects and workshops run by visiting musicians, members of the department and Heads of Performance. You will be required to give one assessed ensemble performance at the end of semester 2.
Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
You will meet with your ensemble coach for regular practical sessions in addition to your independent practice as a group. You will be given the opportunity to perform in classes/workshops run by Heads of Performance, department performance projects (often resulting in public performance), as well as the opportunity to take part in workshops and masterclasses with visiting performers and the lunchtime concert series. You will also learn while listening and observing lunchtime concerts.
