• The origins and development of National Socialist rule in Germany between 1933 and 1945
• the key historiographical debates that have centred on the history of National Socialism and the range of sources scholars use to interpret this history
• the impact of National Socialism on occupied Europe, and particularly on its Jewish populations, between 1933 and 1945
