Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- analyse a variety of primary sources relating to the emergence of National Socialism, its history, and its interpretation
- actively engage with the secondary literature on the history of National Socialism, its history and its interpretation
- understand and critically evaluate the different ways in which the period of National Socialism continues to resonate through the contemporary world
Knowledge and Understanding
Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
- the impact of National Socialism on occupied Europe, and particularly on its Jewish populations, between 1933 and 1945
- The origins and development of National Socialist rule in Germany between 1933 and 1945
- the key historiographical debates that have centred on the history of National Socialism and the range of sources scholars use to interpret this history
Transferable and Generic Skills
Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- locate and use effectively textual, visual and material culture sources in the library and on-line
- research and communicate your findings convincingly and concisely in written reports
- utilise and develop your time-management skills
