Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Explain the impact of wider determinants on communicable and non-communicable diseases in low and middle income countries
• Discuss the emerging issues and critical challenges in transnational health and population development and how these are affected by underlying contextual factors such as globalisation, urbanisation, demographic, environmental and social change
• Apply an equity lens to the analysis of global health challenges and interventions
• Critique the international leadership and global health architecture in terms of the imbalance of power between high income and low / middle income countries
• Understand the impact of wider multi-sectoral interventions and policy strategies to reduce the global disease burden and premature mortality
• Identify, use and critically evaluate a range of global health resources, including available datasets
• Explain how strong, equitable and efficient health systems can contribute to improving health outcomes
