Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
- Understand the principles of broadband multicarrier and OFDM communications
- Appreciate the design trade-offs of communications systems
- Understand the principles of multiple-access and multiplexing communications
- Understand the principles of spread-spectrum communications, interference suppression, and spread-spectrum based multiple-access
- Understand the interactions of the various system components and the propagation environment
Subject Specific Practical Skills
Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Parametrise and design multicarrier and OFDM schemes
- Parametrise and design space-time coding schemes
- Design of spread-spectrum schemes and their based multiple-access systems
- Design wireless and optical communications systems, including digital modulation/demodulation and diversity communications
- Model material and fibre dispersion
